Typhoon Fung-wong, a massive storm with a radius spanning the entire Philippines, reached super typhoon status on Sunday ahead of an expected late-night landfall.
The typhoon, which comes just days after another storm battered the country, is moving westward with a wind speed of 185 kilometers per hour (115 miles per hour) near the center and gusts of up to 230 kph, the state weather service reported.
CMG (China Media Group) correspondent on the ground says satellite images show the storm's cloud system stretching across the entire Philippines, with the potential to bring torrential rains, strong winds, flooding and landslides.
