The men's cycling individual road race at China's 15th National Games wrapped up on Saturday, with the first event connecting the three competition zones of Guangdong Province, Hong Kong SAR (Special Administrative Region) and Macao SAR highlighting the joint development potential of the Greater Bay Area.
The riders started in Zhuhai in Guangdong, entered Macao through the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, made their way to Hong Kong and finally returned to Zhuhai. The organizers said the working staff in all three competition zones produced seamless transitions in all aspects, including traffic management and medical services.
Pun Weng Kun, former president of the Macao Sports Bureau, praised the event as history-making, describing it as a great start for the joint development of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao through sports. He added that he hopes more sporting competitions and other events will take place in the Pearl River Delta in the future.
