A magnitude-6.8 earthquake struck off the eastern coast of Honshu, Japan, at a depth of 10 kilometers on Sunday, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center.
The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) measured the quake at magnitude 6.7, saying it struck off Iwate Prefecture at around 5:03 p.m. local time.
The JMA issued a tsunami advisory for the eastern coast of the prefecture, warning of possible tsunami waves up to one meter high.
