Italy has urged Washington to swiftly resolve salary delays affecting about 2,000 local staff at U.S. bases in Aviano and Vicenza after missed October payments. Portugal and Germany have also stepped in to temporarily cover wages for thousands of base employees, while unions warn of mounting hardship and possible labor action if the impasse continues.
