A new study published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS) shows Chinese scientists now lead 45 percent of joint China-U.S. research projects, expected to reach parity with the United States within three years. James Evans, professor of sociology and data science at the University of Chicago, notes that Chinese researchers are playing an increasingly central role in global collaboration. He adds that the scientific complementarity between China and the U.S. is driving more globally influential outcomes.
