As of the end of 2024, China's population aged 60 and above reached 310.31 million, roughly 22 percent of the total, according to the National Bureau of Statistics.

In an interview with CGTN's Health Talk, Carl Wu, co-founder and CEO of New Frontier Group, and the CEO of United Family Healthcare, expressed his views on the future of China's growing senior population.

He believes "aging at home" should be a viable solution in China. New tech, such as sensors and wearables, can provide doctors with the data needed to offer remote and personalized healthcare. Also, home modifications, such as setting up handrails and adjustable beds, can enhance independence for the elderly.

Wu also expects artificial intelligence will play a vital role in delivering healthcare as it can free up doctors' time so their work can become more efficient and comprehensive.
