Japan must immediately correct and retract its provocative remarks related to China's Taiwan; otherwise, all the consequences shall be borne by Japan, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said on Thursday.
Lin made the remarks at a regular press briefing while answering a question about recent remarks Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi made regarding China's Taiwan, hinting at the possibility of military intervention in the Taiwan Strait.
"China firmly opposes this and will never tolerate this," Lin said. "Should Japan dare to resort to force and intervene in the Taiwan Strait, that would constitute an act of aggression. China will meet it with resolute counteractions."
