Zhejiang entered the championship contest shorthanded after center Yu Jiahao left the competition early to honor an overseas contract. Key forward Liu Zeyi was also unavailable, leaving their team to scrape by with a 10‑man rotation.

Despite those two huge personnel losses, Zhejiang stayed competitive early, trailing by just one point after the first quarter. Zhang Hongshuo even hit a go‑ahead three-pointer in the opening minutes of the second period.

But guard Xu Jie answered in kind, drilling four triples and steering Guangdong to a 53-42 lead at halftime. The co-hosts switched to a punishing full‑court press after the break, routinely concentrating defensive pressure on opposing ballhandlers.

Zhejiang could only muster 11 points in the third quarter and entered the final period down by 24. The home side's superior depth and well-oiled cohesion then turned the result into rout.

Xu was Guangdong's undisputed engine, finishing with 18 points and 9 assists, while 30‑year‑old Wang Ruize, making his National Games debut, added 16 points and donned his first gold medal at a major competition.

The victory was personal for Du Feng as well, having been part of Guangdong's past success as a player in 2009, before guiding the team to a second straight title upon taking over on the bench in 2013. The 44-year-old now adds another National Games triumph to his resume, further cementing his status among China's most accomplished coaches.
