King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua of the Kingdom of Thailand arrived in Beijing on Thursday afternoon, beginning a five-day state visit to China at the invitation of President Xi Jinping.

During the visit, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang will meet with the Thai King separately. This is the first visit to China by a Thai Monarch since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries 50 years ago.

Born in July 1952, King Maha Vajiralongkorn ascended the throne in 2016 as King Rama X. His coronation was held in May 2019.
