Brazil on Thursday presented the first global climate adaptation plan centered exclusively on health during the COP30 conference being held in the Amazonian city of Belem.
The Belem Health Action Plan devised by Brazil's Health Ministry proposes concrete measures to strengthen healthcare systems against the impact of climate change, with special attention to the most vulnerable segments of the population.

The plan is to be implemented along three main axes: monitoring climate and health data, building more disaster-resistant health infrastructure and ensuring continued care for vulnerable communities.
Brazil led the creation of the plan in conjunction with countries including Britain, Egypt, Azerbaijan and the United Arab Emirates, said Brazilian Health Minister Alexandre Padilha.
"Adaptation must be treated with the same seriousness and political commitment as mitigation. For many countries, adaptation is a matter of immediate survival," the minister said during the conference.
