Top-seeded Wang Chuqin continued to overcome tough opponents to stay on track for the men's singles table tennis gold medal at China's 15th National Games as he came back to defeat Lin Gaoyuan in six games to reach the semifinals on Thursday in the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR).

Wang and Lin both claimed one game to start the match. Lin had the chance to take the third when he led 10-5, but Wang fought with remarkable resilience and fended off four straight game points to claim it 12-10 to lead 2-1 in the battle.

The World No. 1 extended his momentum to clinch the fourth game 11-5, but Lin refused to let him pocket the win easily, taking the fifth game 11-7 to keep the competition alive.

However, Lin's efforts only delayed Wang's victory by one game as the 25-year-old took the sixth 11-4. He will battle Grand Slam winner Fan Zhendong in the last four.
