Zhejiang secure women's gymnastics team gold at 15th National Games

Zhejiang triumphed in a close women's gymnastics team final at China's 15th National Games in Zhaoqing, south China's Guangdong Province, on Thursday as they edged co-hosts Guangdong by 0.002 points.

Guangdong led by 1.633 points after the first two rounds of the vault and uneven bars. Neither side performed well on the balance beam, but Zhang Qingying and Zhang Xinyi enabled Zhejiang to surpass Guangdong by 0.101 points.

As the two-time defending champions, Guangdong outperformed Zhejiang in the final part of the floor exercise, but not by enough for a comeback victory. Zhejiang finished with 209.428 points to bag their first-ever gold in the event at the National Games.

Guangdong had to settle for silver and the bronze went to Hubei.
