1885: Provincial Taiwan welcomes modernization

Taiwan was removed from Fujian's jurisdiction and established as China's 20th province in 1885 during the Qing Dynasty. General Liu Mingchuan, who was appointed as Taiwan's first governor, actively developed local transportation and education infrastructure, officially marking the beginning of Taiwan's modernization.
