China and the United States must take joint leadership in tackling the world's escalating climate crisis, said Chen Deliang, a globally acclaimed climate scientist. Speaking to CGTN ahead of COP30, the foreign member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and chair professor of Earth Sciences at Tsinghua University stressed that the two countries bear a shared responsibility to drive deep emissions cuts, strengthen adaptation efforts, and guide international cooperation. Chen highlighted China's consistent long-term climate strategy, its progress in ecological conservation, and the urgent need for renewed China–U.S. collaboration to steer global climate action at this pivotal moment.
