The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is reevaluating its plans to enter the much-anticipated esports arena, IOC President Kirsty Coventry said in an interview with China Media Group (CMG) in Beijing, explaining the IOC's decision to pause the initiative after canceling a deal to host the first esports events in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in 2027.
"We're studying everything at the moment. We really want to ensure when we have the first, because it's not an if, I believe we all want to see the esport games happen. But we want to be very clear on what we want it to do and what we want it to deliver," said Coventry.
