Jimingshan community, located in Yiwu city, east China's Zhejiang Province is known as the "United Nations Community." That is because the community is home to nearly 1,400 people from more than 70 countries.

Awsan, who is from Yemen, came to China in 2015 and joined the Jimingshan Community in early 2020. He is a member of the community's volunteer team. His work mainly involves assisting with translation, participating in local fire safety inspections and helping foreign residents find a house to rent. "After years of volunteer service, many Chinese friends have come to know me, and I have also made many Chinese friends. It feels like being at home," he says. Wang Xiaoxiao is a Chinese staffer serving this community. She helps with dispute resolution and cultural understanding when differences arise between Chinese and foreign residents. Jimingshan Community also offers multilingual courses and opportunities to participate in cultural activities, allowing foreign residents to integrate into local life. In Wang's view, there are no barriers of national boundaries or beliefs here, only the warmth of mutual assistance.
