China is accelerating urban pipeline upgrades as part of its high-quality development efforts. By year-end 2025, Beijing will have renovated 1,000 km of aging pipelines, while Shanghai will have relocated 130 km of overhead lines underground. Over the next five years, nearly 600,000 km of urban pipelines — including gas, water, and heating systems — will be upgraded, requiring an estimated total investment of around 4 trillion yuan.
CGTN's special series Path to Prosperity takes you to the forefront of China's high-quality development.
