Guangdong outplayed Sichuan 74-68 in the women's basketball final at China's 15th National Games, with Yang Shuyu leading the way by scoring a game-high 22 points in Foshan on Saturday.

Both squads featured several national team members.

Guangdong started quickly, as Yang Shuyu found Chen Mingling for a layup and an early 9-4 lead. Yang Liwei's three-pointer pushed the competition co-host's advantage to 12-8.

Sichuan bounced back in the second quarter, with Li Yuan passing to Gao Song, whose three-pointer tied the contest at 28-28.

Chen powered to the rim, putting Guangdong ahead 38-36, and Yang Shuyu drained three of her game-high 22 points as part of an 11-0 run that extended the co-host's edge to double digits.

Li Yuan again set up Gao for a three-pointer, helping Sichuan cut the deficit to eight. But the team's defense was exploited by Yang Shuyu for an easy layup.

Guangdong went on to win by six points, claiming gold and topping the podium in front of an ecstatic home crowd.
