Jiangsu claimed the women's football championship at China's 15th National Games, clinching a tight 1-0 victory over Hubei when Huo Yuexin scored the decisive goal in the final minute of regulation time in Foshan on Saturday.
The score was tied at 0-0 for nearly the entire match, but Jiangsu substituted in the 20-year-old forward Huo in the 77th minute, and she eventually turned out to be the difference-maker.
Jiangsu sent a long pass up the pitch in the 90th minute, with Shao Ziqin heading the ball into the box. Huo calmly finished into the near corner, notching what proved to be a dramatic winner.
The 1-0 triumph saw Jiangsu garner gold while Hubei snagged silver. Competition co-host Guangdong bowed out with bronze.
