Authorities in Uttar Pradesh state, North India, say the death toll from a stone mine collapse in Sonbhadra district has climbed to five, with rescue teams continuing operations at the site. The collapse occurred early on Saturday at Krishna mines in Obra town, prompting a large emergency response. Local officials said the victims' bodies will undergo an autopsy as part of the investigation. The incident follows a series of fatal mining accidents reported in India in recent years.
