A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson on Monday urged Japan to reflect on and correct its mistake immediately.

Spokesperson Mao Ning made the remarks during a regular press briefing in response to a question about the visit of Masaaki Kanai, director general of the Japanese Foreign Ministry's Asian and Oceanian Affairs Bureau, to China.

Mao noted that if there is any news, it will be released immediately. She stressed that the Chinese Foreign Ministry had expressed firm opposition to Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's erroneous remarks concerning Taiwan and lodged stern representations with Japan. The Chinese Foreign Ministry urged Japan to immediately reflect on its mistake, retract its provocative remarks on Taiwan, and stop creating trouble on issues related to China.

Mao also stressed that recently, there has been a surge in crimes targeting Chinese citizens, and there have been extreme and threatening remarks targeting Chinese diplomats from Japanese right-wing provocateurs and internet users. China is deeply concerned about this, and it is entirely reasonable for relevant authorities to issue alerts and advisories.
