Shenzhen's swimming pool produced another neat string of headlines on Sunday at China's 15th National Games.
Two‑time Olympic champion Zhang Yufei added the women's 50-meter butterfly title to her haul, touching the wall first in 25.61 seconds to claim a second gold medal for Jiangsu. Zhejiang's young duo of Wu Qingfeng and Yu Yiting rounded out the podium.
The victory marked Zhang's third trip to the podium at this year's edition of the country's biggest domestic multi-sport competition. She previously took gold in the 100-meter butterfly and earned bronze in the 200-meter butterfly.
Hubei's Peng Xuwei grabbed her second title by winning the women's 200-meter backstroke in 2:07.74, with Zhejiang's Liu Yaxin and Tianjin's Yang Nuoxi joining her on the podium.
In a historic achievement for Hong Kong SAR (Special Administrative Region), Ian Ho Yen‑tou won the men's 50-meter freestyle in 21.71 seconds, just 0.05 shy of the Asian record, picking up the delegation's first-ever men's swimming gold at the National Games. Liaoning's Chen Hao collected silver while Zhejiang's Pan Zhanle and Fujian's Liu Wudi finished in a joint heat to share bronze.
Tianjin's Wang Changhao successfully defended his men's 100-meter butterfly crown, stopping the clock at 51.40 seconds to add to the 50-meter butterfly title he claimed earlier, while Shandong's Xu Fang finished second.
Hebei's Li Bingjie dominated the women's 800-meter freestyle in 8:19.00, completing impressive three‑peats in both the 800-meter and 1,500-meter races to seal a "double treble" across the two distance events.
