Several Japanese films originally scheduled for release in China – including "Crayon Shin-chan the Movie: Super Hot! Scorching Kasukabe Dancers" and "Cells at Work!" – have been postponed. According to importers and distributors, this decision reflects a careful assessment of the overall market performance of recent Japanese releases and current audience sentiment. Audiences in China have expressed strong dissatisfaction in the wake of remarks made by Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi regarding the Taiwan question.
As of November 16, the total box office revenue on the Chinese mainland this year has reached 45.543 billion yuan (about 6.4 billion USD), maintaining its position as the world's second-largest film market. The country's domestic films account for 88.48 percent of the total.
