New energy vehicles (NEVs) are a key driver of the global auto industry's green development and upgrading. According to data from the National Bureau of Statistics, China's NEVs helped reduce global carbon emissions by roughly 50 million tonnes in 2023, making a significant contribution to sustainable development. NEV industrial clusters are rapidly taking shape in the Yangtze River Delta, where any NEV plant can obtain all required parts within a four-hour drive.

CGTN reporter Joseph Anthony Stannard traveled to Shanghai and Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province, visiting intelligent driving simulation lab, battery and die-casting factories. He explored the full NEV industrial chain – from R&D and manufacturing to component supply. He noted that China's NEV industry is just at the early stage of its growth trajectory and will continue to expand, leading a global shift toward a greener, low carbon future.
