Alongside a number of events at China's 15th National Games taking place in the Macao SAR (Special Administrative Region), the 72nd edition of the Macao Grand Prix was also held from November 13 to 16, featuring several races across multiple categories.
In an interview with CGTN Sports Scene's Shen Xiang, FIA (Federation Internationale de l'Automobile) Single-Seater Commission President Emanuele Pirro shared his thoughts on the prestigious event and laid out his vision of the race's future.
One of the events in the Macao SAR was the inaugural Formula 4 World Cup, which Pirro called a unique event. He explained that the location was chosen because the track hasn't changed in years, which is rare in automobile racing.
The former Formula 1 driver and five-time 24 Hours de Les Mans winner said street racing is different from other competitions, as it requires participants to be more accurate.
Pirro, who raced nine times in the Macao SAR himself, hopes the Grand Prix can remain in the same location for as long as possible, as it's not easy to find street tracks like the time-tested circuit. Moreover, the culture of the city provides unique experiences for drivers and visitors alike.
