Starting November 20, travelers from China's Taiwan region will be able to apply for a one-time Taiwan Compatriot Permit at 100 ports across the Chinese mainland – a major expansion of access. The Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council said at a regular press briefing that preparations are complete and extended a warm invitation to Taiwan compatriots to visit the mainland, encouraging them to experience winter sports in the north. In addition, around 3,000 scenic spots will offer free admission to first-time visitors from Taiwan.
