A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson on Thursday called on Japan to refrain from interfering in matters related to Taiwan, stressing that the issue is purely China's internal affair.
Spokesperson Mao Ning made the remarks during a regular press briefing in response to a question about Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's remarks about hypothetical situations related to Taiwan.
Mao recalled the historical context of Japan's occupation of Taiwan and warned that attempts by Japan to stir up tensions on the Taiwan question would not succeed.
