Enthusiasm for China's 15th National Games has extended beyond the stadiums and arenas, motivating people from all walks of life to stay active. Sports Scene's Shen Xiang dropped by a popular outdoor workout spot in Macao SAR (Special Administrative Region) and talked with Ivy Lei, a reporter from TDM News, about how public fitness has evolved in the city.
Lei sketched recent changes – better facilities, more organized programs and a visible shift in public habits. She pointed to several drivers behind the trend, including government promotion, improved infrastructure and community initiatives, that make exercise both accessible and social, before outlining further steps that might deepen participation, from targeted outreach to more diversified programming for different age groups.
Local residents also had an opinion. One exerciser summed it up neatly, saying: "I believe it's due to government encouragement and the well-maintained facilities. Macao residents generally have a leisurely lifestyle and place great importance on health."
