From the court to the community, the spirit of Chinese women's volleyball united fans and athletes alike at the National Games. And with the Macao SAR (Special Administrative Region) hosting the matches in the 15th edition, Sports Scene's Shen Xiang explored how the core values of perseverance and collective effort have resonated in the Greater Bay Area.

The city long ago started staging top international events, showcasing its rich history in organizing high-level tournaments. Macao SAR captain Qin Xinxian has been a fan of the Chinese women's national team since childhood. And now, she has grown into the leader of the squad representing the co-host region, as they competed at their home venue.

"The Chinese women's volleyball team once won five consecutive championships," noted Qin. "After those players from that era became coaches, the new generation they trained has continuously inherited that spirit, a spirit of perseverance and never giving up. I think it's truly worthy for every one of us to learn from that."

The women's volleyball matches also attracted sizable crowds to the arena. For many fans, it is the spirit of the sport and their love for the action that brought them together in the Greater Bay Area.

"I believe the spirit of women's volleyball lies in a group of people striving together toward a common goal, and pushing themselves to their utmost limits," said spectator Xu Haoqin. "I also think this resonates with how people have gathered here from all over the country, coming together in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to watch the matches, and experience this very spirit. To me, this is a powerful reflection of unity and collective strength."

The perseverance and unity embodied in the spirit of Chinese women's volleyball have long transcended the competition itself, becoming an quintessential force that unites the people across the nation.
