Cross-Strait communication activity held to safeguard national interests

The 5th Cross-Strait Compatriots Exchange and Discussion Activity has opened in Chengdu, capital of southwest China's Sichuan Province, with more than 200 participants from both sides of the Taiwan Strait attending. Song Tao, Chinese mainland's top Taiwan affairs official, read a congratulatory letter from Wang Huning, a senior official of the Communist Party of China, highlighting the firm determination and strong will of compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait to uphold the one-China principle and achieve the complete reunification of the motherland. And participants from Taiwan shared their insights on the recent provocative remarks by Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi over the Taiwan question.
