Zaw Min Tun, leader of the Information Team of Myanmar's National Defense and Security Council, responded to media questions on Friday regarding recent erroneous remarks made by Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi on Taiwan-related issues.

Zaw Min Tun said that the Myanmar government has noted the comments by the Japanese prime minister and stated Myanmar's position as follows:

First, the Myanmar government adheres to the one-China policy. Acting President Senior General Min Aung Hlaing has reaffirmed this position on multiple occasions during meetings with Chinese leaders.

Second, China and Myanmar are friendly neighbors. The two sides are working together to build a comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership and are committed to forging a community with a shared future. The Myanmar government attaches great importance to and cherishes this relationship.

Third, Myanmar has always followed the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, respects China's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and will, as always, support China's efforts to safeguard national unity.
