Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's erroneous remarks on Taiwan region not only pose a threat to China but also endanger regional peace and stability, said Victor Gao, vice president of the Center for China and Globalization (CCG).

He warned that if Japan is allowed to violate the obligations set out in its Instrument of Surrender in 1945 and overturn the commitments it made to China and other countries after its defeat in World War Two, this could even trigger the "Enemy State Clause" of the United Nations (UN) Charter. If an enemy state of World War Two resumes an aggressive policy, this provision allows the founding members of the UN to take enforcement measures without the approval from the Security Council.

Gao also stressed that China will never allow Japan to challenge the one-China principle.
