At least 13 people have died as a result of flooding across nine provinces in southern Thailand after days of torrential rain caused rivers and canals to overflow since the weekend of November 22. The authorities have ordered evacuations in low-lying areas, with rising waters disrupting daily life in Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Trang, Phatthalung, Satun, Songkhla, Pattani, Yala and Narathiwat. Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has established a command center in Songkhla. Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister Thammanat Prompao has directed agencies to deploy personnel, equipment and emergency relief to affected communities.
