The Hainan Free Trade Port is gearing up for a historic milestone as island-wide special customs operations are set to launch on December 18. The new system will widen zero-tariff coverage and signal further opening up for international investment in tourism, modern services and high-tech industries.
Atlantis Sanya, a luxury resort brand from Dubai, opened in 2018, the same year the Hainan Free Trade Port was first proposed. The resort has grown alongside the FTP, becoming a landmark in Sanya's push toward global standards. CGTN's Chen Mengfei speaks with Heiko Roeder, the German managing director of Atlantis Sanya, about his connection with the island and his outlook for Sanya's future.
