The crimes of the Japanese aggressors must never be forgotten. Zhang Xiuju, a 96-year-old woman from Shandong Province, tearfully recalled the atrocities committed by the Japanese troops when she was eight: seizing grain and possessions, brutalizing civilians. The former village head of Xishanqian village testified that in 1941, Japanese forces surrounded the village and fired 108 artillery shells. Bullet holes still visible on trees today bear witness to the horrors. The Chinese people will never forget the suffering of history, nor will we allow such tragedies to be repeated.
