A new ecological survey shows the endangered Yunnan snub-nosed monkey population in Yunlong Tianchi National Nature Reserve has grown to 350, a major rise from the 50–60 recorded in 1988. Researchers found the monkey troops to be healthy and active, documenting their mountain-crossing routes in this unique reserve at the southernmost edge of the species' range.

Years of habitat restoration – especially the planting of spruce, Armand pine, and fir—have rebuilt forest corridors and improved genetic exchange. A recent joint survey confirms the progress: there are about 300 more monkeys since monitoring began, indicating both a steady recovery and a more sustainable future.
