On November 16, 2010, at the Fifth Session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage convened in Nairobi, Kenya, "Traditional Chinese Medicine Acupuncture" was formally inscribed on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. Acupuncture represents crucial clinical skills in traditional Chinese medicine and is widely recognized globally. In recent years, experts from around the world have come to China to experience and learn acupuncture firsthand. Recently, experts from China, Norway, Sweden, the United States and other countries gathered in the capital to engage in exchanges on the integration of traditional Chinese medicine with Western medicine.
