China thumped Bangladesh 4-0 in their final AFC (Asian Football Confederation) Under-17 Asian Cup qualifier in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality on Sunday, sealing a spot at next year's tournament with five straight victories in Group A while scoring 42 goals and conceding none.
Shuai Weihao struck twice in the first half before completing his hat-trick in the 53rd minute to put China in front 3-0. Zhao Songyuan later added the home side's fourth goal to round out the scoring.
"I hope we can keep our tempo under high pressure. We have done well in this area, especially the position rotation and the transition, it's a delighted result," said China coach Bin Ukishima.
All 16 qualifying teams for the 2026 AFC U17 Asian Cup have now been confirmed: Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Japan, DPRK, Qatar, Republic of Korea, Tajikistan, UAE, Uzbekistan, China, Yemen, Vietnam, India, Australia, Thailand and Myanmar.
The continental competition is set to take place May 7-24, 2026, in Saudi Arabia. The top eight teams will qualify for the 2026 FIFA U17 World Cup in Qatar.
