China's year-end box office surpasses 2 billion yuan

China's year-end box office (November 28–December 31) has exceeded 2 billion yuan (about $283 million) in total box office earnings, with Zootopia 2 leading the charts, according to online platform data, as of 12:08 p.m. on Wednesday.

From November 28, the New Year film season officially began, with over 50 movies scheduled. The lineup includes a variety of genres – suspense, heartfelt stories, action and science fiction – appealing to diverse audiences.

The animated film Zootopia 2 has achieved significant success in China, breaking several records, including the highest box office earnings for an imported animated film in Chinese history.

The film was released globally on November 26 across 57 countries and regions. It has generated $818 million in worldwide box office as of 5 p.m. on December 1, with China accounting for $278 million, or 33.9 percent of its global revenue. China surpassed North America to become the film's largest market.
