China and France have significantly deepened their cooperation across various sectors, from economy and trade to culture and tourism, since establishing formal diplomatic relations in 1964.

China stands as France's largest trading partner in Asia and ranks seventh globally, while France serves as China's third-largest trading partner and the third-largest source of investment within the European Union.

The total trade between the two countries was $79.6 billion in 2024, marking a year-on-year increase of 0.8 percent. In the first half of 2025, bilateral trade reached $39.1 billion, rising 1.2 percent compared to the same period the previous year.

The two countries have signed agreements on cooperation in fields such as environmental protection, peaceful use of nuclear energy, health and medical science. In November, China extended its 30-day visa-free entry policy for France to December 31, 2026. There are 114 pairs of sister provinces and cities between China and France.
