The Potsdam Proclamation, issued by China, the United State and the United Kingdom in July 1945, is one of the key documents in establishing the foundation of the post-war international order. During an exhibition at the National Archives of Japan in August this year, the original document titled the "Imperial Rescript on the Termination of the War" in which Japan announced the acceptance of the Potsdam Proclamation was exhibited. Following the recent ill-intentioned remarks regarding Taiwan by Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, China has repeatedly urged Japan to reflect on its wrongful deeds and fulfill its obligations as a vanquished country rather than breaking promises and betraying trust.
