A year-end analysis by the Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air (CREA) highlights the remarkable growth of clean energy in China, noting that the country's 2023 additions of wind and solar energy capacity alone could power all of Germany. This surge has become a standout achievement of China's 14th Five-Year Plan, contributing to the first decline in power sector emissions in a decade and reducing transport-related emissions. However, a CREA expert told CGTN that whether China can reliably peak emissions by 2030 remains uncertain, as the trajectory will depend heavily on policy decisions in the coming years.
