Winnie Ho, secretary for housing of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government, says that more than 1,400 transitional housing units in Tai Po have been prepared for residents displaced by the recent devastating fire. She stressed that families can stay rent-free for as long as needed and that the government will "stand by them until they have a safe place to call home." Ho added that pets are welcome and that authorities will assist with any needs raised by the residents.
