Japan began the 17th round of discharge of nuclear-contaminated wastewater from the crippled Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant into the ocean on December 4.
Despite opposition from local fishermen, residents and the international community, the ocean discharge of the Fukushima nuclear-contaminated water began in August 2023. A total of 125,488 tonnes of wastewater had been discharged by the end of the 16th round of release.
Earlier in 2023, CGTN's Li Chaoran wrote a song criticizing Japan's reckless move.
