Voting for the eighth-term Legislative Council (LegCo) of China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) is underway today, with most polling stations scheduled to close at 11:30 p.m.
At the Hong Kong Teachers' Association Lee Heng Kwei Secondary School, residents from Wang Fuk Court – where a Level-5 fire in November has so far claimed 159 lives – and neighboring communities in Tai Po district arrived to cast their ballots. Three polling stations were relocated following the blaze, with free transportation arranged for displaced residents.
Ms. Wong, a Wang Fuk Court resident, told CGTN she voted "for her own home", expressing hope that newly elected lawmakers will continue supporting those affected. Other voters said holding the election as planned is "what society needs," emphasizing that in the aftermath of the tragedy, every vote carries even greater significance.
