Watch: Opening ceremony of 7th Hainan Island International Film Festival

Co-hosted by China Media Group and the People's Government of Hainan Province, the 7th Hainan Island International Film Festival is taking place in Sanya from December 3 to 9.

The opening ceremony featured artistic performances grounded in Hainan's intangible cultural heritage, such as Li ethnic folk songs and Danzhou diaosheng (a genre of traditional folk music sung with local dialect), blending these traditions with classic cinematic elements and global screen memories. The program pays heartfelt tribute to a century of film history while showcasing Hainan's open and inclusive character.

With the theme "From Oceans to the Infinite," this year's festival received 4,564 film submissions from 119 countries and regions, marking a record high. The "Golden Coconut Awards" jury consists of 13 renowned filmmakers from China and abroad, with Italian film expert Marco Müller serving as the jury president.
