Former Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama said in an interview on December 7 that the Taiwan question is China's internal affair and Japan should not interfere. He called Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's recent remarks on China's Taiwan ill considered, and said they appear to be a statement made with a certain intention. Hatoyama warned that China-Japan relations have already fallen into a very serious situation because of such remarks, and urged the Japanese side to take prompt measures, otherwise the situation could become even more severe.
