The Ama Museum in Taipei records the stories of 59 victims of the Japanese "comfort women" system in China's Taiwan region. The term refers to women forced into sexual slavery by Japanese troops during World War Two. The museum, established in 2016, features over 5,000 oral-history records, photographs, film footage, books and more than 700 artifacts. These constitute evidence of the crimes committed under Japanese militarist colonial rule in Taiwan region – crimes against humanity that clearly show Japan bears historical responsibility toward the Chinese people.
