A rare double rainbow lit up the Hukou Waterfall on the Yellow River, where mist from the thundering cascade refracted sunlight to create two vivid arcs above the gorge. The icy season added to the spectacle, with shimmering icicles forming along the riverbank as the temperature dropped. Staff said rainbows appear more often in winter due to the abundance of water vapor, although double rainbows remain uncommon. Straddling Shanxi and Shaanxi provinces, Hukou Waterfall – China's largest waterfall on the Yellow River – is famed for its roaring surge through a narrow gorge, now made even more breathtaking by this winter display.
