Seven Chinese players to compete in singles events at Australian Open

The first Grand Slam of next season, the Australian Open, released the men's and women's singles entry lists on Tuesday.

Seven players from the Chinese Tennis Association have qualified for the competitions at Melbourne Park.

2024 runner-up Zheng Qinwen leads the women's list that also includes Wang Xinyu, Zhang Shuai and Wang Yafan, who enters via ranking protection.

On the men's side, Zhang Zhizhen and Shang Juncheng secured qualification with ranking protection also, with Buyunchaokete set to feature as a wildcard.

The world's Top 10 players will all feature at the Australian Open. Two-time champion Aryna Sabalenka and defending champion Madison Keys headline the women's list.

On the men's side, World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz will go for his first title at Melbourne Park while Jannik Sinner will battle for his third in a row. Novak Djokovic, 38, will chase a record extending 11th title and all-time record 25th Grand Slam crown.
